Great Pyrenees excel at such tasks as carting and social/pet therapy. They are excellent livestock guardians as well as wonderful family pets. Many Pyrs have tried their 'paws' in the agility and obedience rings. AZPyrs wants to explore ALL aspects of this magnificent breed.
We are a new and different type of club to Arizona - a fun club - with the emphasis on FUN! Getting to know our members personally, along with their dogs, is of the utmost importance to us. Communal exchanges of ideas and opinions, grooming and handling tips, and dietary advice is paramount.
Much of AZPyrs time is concentrated on Great Pyrenees Rescue. AZPyrs actively fosters and re-homes purebred Great Pyrenees throughout the entire state of Arizona. AZPyrs schedules many informational, educational and fun social events for the enjoyment of Great Pyrenees fanciers. |

Description:
RESCUE is the last voice for dogs
and cats who, through no fault of their own, find themselves awaiting death at our county pounds. Since 1995, we have operated with the philosophy that for every animal we place we will be back to rescue another facing an untimely death. To date, we have fulfilled that promise over 9,000 times.
While all of the cats and dogs presented on this site have stayed at the Maricopa County pounds, they are now safe in our care and away from the threat of euthanasia. These amazingly resilient and wonderful beings reside in the homes of our dedicated foster parents or with our boarding partners until their permanent home is located.
Through our unique MatchMaking Service we work to pair up each animal with the most appropriate adopter to achieve a happy, lifelong match. As a result, RESCUE's cumulative return rate is 8%, one of the lowest in the nation (nationally, over 50% of all adopted animals are no longer in their adoptive home after just the first year). |
